A new Floki Inu ad started on London buses despite getting a few warnings from regulators that we reported about in our previous altcoin news.
The new ad comes in the backdrop of the previous ad campaign which also came under scrutiny from the UK regulator and got banned. The new Floki Inu ad targeted commuters using London’s buses and underground networks. The previous ad campaign launched in October 2021 ran for two months and got scrutinized by the UK’s advertising standards authority and the ad industry regulator said that while the campaign is still running, it recieved multiple complaints about the ads not conforming with the rules and started an investigation. In March 2022, ASA concluded that Flok Inu ads were irresponsible and banned them.
The FLoki Inu team announced the new ads on Twitter followed by a corporate blog on Medium:
“First London campaign of 22 will kick off 25th of April! This campaign will take over London with 100 bus campaigns and cover The London Underground.”
The new campaign started today and will continue for four weeks so, during this period, Floki Inu ads will feature on 100 bus supersedes and 18 cross-track as well as 185 small posters in the London Underground network. The director of Marketing Sabre said:
“In a sense, this second London campaign is an even bigger win for Floki and the crypto industry as a whole than the first, as our team has fought for the right to advertise our groundbreaking project to the public. We look forward to many more campaigns like this, both in London and globally.”
In the response to ASA’s investigation into the London ad campaign last year, FLoki denied the allegations made against it and differed with the watchdog’s conclusions:
“Floki had received approval from CAP (Committee of Advertising Practice) that the ads were in compliance with their standards.”
In the latest blog that announced the launch of the campaign, the FLoki team said it doesn’t want to fight with the regulators:
“We continue to build the Floki ecosystem for the future of our investors. We would rather not involve ourselves in politics. If regulators want a fight, to them we simply say: we would rather educate and teach you as they do in one of the schools we’re helping to build in underprivileged nations…”
Floki also launched a marketing campaign in the US and Turkey via strategic television commercials that involved CNBC, CNN, ESPN, and Discovery among others.
